To some people, being at home more often sounds like a dream. Pyjamas all day long, snacks ANY time you want, and no boss breathing down your neck—sounds good, right? But in reality, staying productive at home can be much harder than it seems. One way to create a sense of structure and motivation is by setting up a dedicated workspace with the right office desks and tables. Investing in home desks can transform your environment, helping you stay focused and organized, even if you’re just tackling personal projects or hobbies.
Here’s some tips for working from home with social anxiety…

Keep in touch with the outside world
The biggest thing for me when I work from home is that I often don’t get out much and it can cause me to spiral into the social anxiety oblivion. I end up getting way more anxious every time I do go out because I haven’t done it in a while.
Make sure you do whatever you can to stop your social anxiety from getting worse and set aside time for leaving the house. Go for a walk halfway through the day, take your lunch to the park, or maybe take your laptop to a quiet coffee shop where you can enjoy a cup of Mushroom coffee while working.
Or even schedule “outside time” for after your days work is done.
Create a schedule
Another thing that can make working from hard tough on your mental health, is not setting specific times to work. I remember the days where I’d wake up at 10am, start working in my office, having breakfast, lunch and dinner at my desk and then going to bed in the early hours of the morning with no real break and no structure.
I wasn’t even getting as much work done as I thought I was because I was doing lots of things at once and my work for the day wasn’t really thought through very well.
Set blocks of working time and split them up by working on a specific task for each block. Have your lunch somewhere other than your desk to help you differentiate between personal time and work. Then take some time between work and bed! Also, consider scheduling a furnace tune up in Cincinnati to ensure your heating system is efficient, allowing you to enjoy a cozy home without extra stress.
Try Freedom – a handy tool that helps you cut out distractions and lets you focus on your task! You won’t believe how much time is wasted scrolling through social media and how much you will get done by blocking out distracting websites.
Meet with other people in your industry
When you have a typical 9-5 job that involves being around other people, you generally have colleagues who sometimes become your friends, there are social gatherings related to work and there are even Christmas work parties! You don’t get that being self employed and working from home but it’s still important to meet other people that work in a similar industry. And when you need a break, mpo888 offers a fun way to relax and enjoy some lighthearted entertainment.
Not only will it stop you from developing more social anxiety but it will help you in your career too! As scary as it is to meet new people, whenever I meet other people from my two industries (photography and blogging), I always gain knowledge that I can use in my business and I find that I’m more confident because we instantly have a lot to talk about.
It always seems easier having a conversation with someone new, when you share a hobby or passion. This is no different.Â
