What’s it all about?

Life can be a real awkward piece of shit sometimes. You find yourself rehearsing how you’re going to ask for a bus ticket a million times in your head, even sometimes 3 days before you even need to ride the bus. You constantly feel like you don’t fit in but you can never join in anyway because you’re too scared. WTF?!. Welcome to living with Social Anxiety.

Everyone has a degree of anxiety, it’s healthy, it’s normal. When it stops you from living day to day life or holds you back from things you want or need to do then it’s unhealthy.

I have suffered with Social Anxiety since I was a toddler, when I was so young that I thought jamming toast into the VCR and peeing in my grandads shoe was acceptable. I couldn’t play with all the other kids at play school and my anxiety just got worse and worse to the point I spent 6 months at a time indoors, couldn’t open the curtains and hid under the windowsill every time someone would come to front the door.

After lots of CBT and exposure therapy and generally just kicking the shit out of my anxiety I am a much more confident person.

So join me while I progress, learn from my mistakes and laugh at my general failings!  I’m here to help 🙂

  1. I love this. So well written and accurate. I struggle from anxiety as well and the struggles of life (and growing up). I’m hoping to find people who relate through my blog, feel free to check it out!
