20 Facts About Me

I feel like we’ve done that thing where you skip the dating and go directly to the relationship. I’ve written about some of my most darkest moments on this blog, I didn’t introduce myself like “hey, I’m Kel and I like curry and I once had a pet hamster who’s name I can’t remember”, I just told you all my secrets like it was no big deal. We’ve totally bypassed the candlelit dinner at the swanky restaurant with the small talk and gone straight to sweatpants and KFC on the couch.

I want you all to know me beyond my mental illness and my fertility problems. I want you to know me as Kel, the weirdo who likes conspiracy theory documentaries and sings metal songs in the shower. I want to know YOU and what makes you who you are. After all, Social Anxiety isn’t who we are underneath.

Here’s 20 facts about me… I would love it if you would write 20 facts about yourself in the comments so we can get to know each other better, or post it on your blog and link it in the comments 🙂

  5. I work as a wedding photographer but I also shoot horror photography on the side. Most of my bad dreams are made up of the shutter on my camera malfunctioning.

    1. I was born 3 at three months premature. I am told that my sensory and health problems are an excuse. I am a diagnosed Aspergian and get called a liar. American research into these issues in adults, is next to nothing. I suffer alone. PROS as well here.

  2. Hi Kelly, number 4 sounds like misophonia, if you don’t know. A lot of people think they’re overreacting when being deeply frustrated with sounds like this, but it actually has a name, just to let you know.

I also have asthma, and I know it sucks. I don’t do horror photography, but I love horror, especially watching horror video games on YouTube (Particularly by Jacksepticeye and Markiplier). I felt like, growing up, doing things like listening to Creepypasta (internet horror stories) really helped me feel less numb. I like that feeling of being alive with horror, like I’m going down a rollercoaster, and I loved rollercoasters and other rides like that growing up. I really think horror helped me deal with numbness in a more healthy way, than other types of really, really bad ways, and while I don’t do horror photography myself, I really follow a lot of people with the horror images they make.

A lot of people feel uncomfortable with emotional intensity, but I find it cathartic how horror or similar grotesque forms of art expresses very intense negative emotions. I think that’s part of what makes rock great as well, really. It’s nice to express that or have someone with similar feelings express that for you. I don’t find it “weird” at all. If anything, it feels like listening to types of music beyond the mainstream ones are becoming more normalized today, haha.
